One of the most important – and most forgotten – aspects of marriage is that it is designed to be permanent. When the permanence of marriage is compromised, the best parts of the relationship are diminished. We need to see and feel the value and necessity of a life commitment in marriage.
How can being stuck with one person be portrayed as a good thing? Only by submitting to God’s rules in the roles and responsibilities for husbands and wives. If they will not follow God’s instructions, it can be an unpleasant alliance. If, however, one accepts the spousal role as God defines it and follows the instructions in spousal behavior, the marriage relationship produces joy, peace, contentment, hope, and confidence.
