In three of the four gospel accounts, we see the story of Jesus stilling the storms on the Sea of Galilee. The message is obviously to show Jesus’ power and control over all aspects of this world and confirm his power and authority.
In addition, though, we learn a lot about Jesus in terms of how he interacts with his disciples. We see Jesus’ utter faith in the Father, contrasted with the disciples’ doubt and fear in the face of a very real threat to their lives. And we see the message that if God has promised us deliverance, then He is fully capable of fulfilling that promise no matter the obstacles.
